Wekelijks worden er namelijk meer dan 850.000 formulieren ingevuld en ingeleverd. Dat niemand van de 850.000 deelnemers zes getallen goed heeft is al ‘n hele prestatie. Dat dat zeven keer op rij gebeurt, is een soort van mirakel. Sinds 9 september is het alweer geleden dat iemand nog eens de hoofdprijs won. In 2014 wonnen 47 spelers de hoofdprijs, waarvan 34 in de eerste negen maanden. In 2013 wonnen 63 spelers de hoofdprijs, waarvan 43 in de eerste negen maanden van 2013.
Deze dalende lijn is al een tijd zichtbaar. In 1985 wonnen niet minder dan 279 deelnemers de jackpot van de Belgische Lotto. Dat betekent dat gemiddeld per keer 5 deelnemers de hoofdprijs wonnen. Toen kon er nog gekozen worden uit 42 getallen, nu uit 45 waardoor je winstkansen zijn gedaald tot 1 op 8 miljoen.
Op 4 november wonnen wel weer twee deelnemers de hoofdprijs. Ze kruisten zes goede getallen aan op het door hen ingeleverde Lotto-formulier en wonnen het mooie bedrag van € 1.356.238,00. Het valt allemaal in het niets bij de prijzen die momenteel te winnen zijn in de Amerikaanse Loterijen Mega Millions en Powerball. De jackpot van de Mega Millions loterij bedraagt maar liefst 144 miljoen dollar en de jackpot van de Powerball-loterij doet daar met 142 miljoen dollar nauwelijks voor onder.
