Ongeveer 200 van deze goede doelen ontvangen geld van de Nationale Postcode Loterij, de Lotto en de Staatsloterij.’. Ook voor lotenkopers en steuners van goede doelen ziet Michel van Dijk voordelen. ‘Bij de Postcodeloterij weet je niet precies waar je geld naar toe gaat. Dat kan naar de bescherming van mosplanten in Noord-Oost Groningen zijn, maar ook naar waterputten in Burkina Faso. Als een goed doel een eigen loterij heeft, weet je precies waar je inleg terechtkomt’.
Niet iedereen even positief over liberalisering loterijwet
Het is echter niet alleen maar hosanna. Diverse goede doelen zien weinig heil in het organiseren van commerciële initiatieven om fondsen te werven. Bij commerciële initiatieven blijft er namelijk altijd geld aan de welbekende strijkstok hangen. Fair Share Nederland werk niet voor niets en bijvoorbeeld de Nationale Postcode Loterij smijt met geld om de loten aan de man te brengen.
Ook horen we geluiden van goede doelen die aangeven dat dit soort initiatieven tijd kosten. Tijd die niet kan besteed worden aan hetgeen waarvoor het goede doel ooit in het leven is geroepen. Ook zijn veel goede doelen opgericht vanuit een religieuze insteek. Een groot deel van de religieuze achterban moet dan ook niets weten van loterijen.
Verder zijn een aantal goede doelen bang dat Nederlandse lotenkopers de van oorsprong Nederlandse loterijen links laten liggen. Een heel rare gedachte is dat niet. Veel Nederlandse loterijdeelnemers hebben de buik vol van lage uitkeringspercentages, verkeerd voorgespiegelde winstkansen en onzinnige prijzen zoals bakjes ijs.
