Tja, en dan heb je ineens de Canadese Lotto gewonnen. Lagarde heeft ongetwijfeld nooit nagedacht over de optie waarvoor ze zou kiezen wanneer ze zou winnen. Nu ze gewonnen heeft, moest ze echter wel degelijk na gaan denken. Ze stond voor een lastige keuze. Uiteindelijk koos ze voor de tweede optie: haar hele leven lang wekelijks 1000 dollar.
Door haar jonge leeftijd (18) zou dit haar veel meer opleveren dan één miljoen dollar. Optie één was voor Lagarde dus niet bepaald lucratief te noemen. Om tot de juiste keuze te komen, werd Lagarde natuurlijk wel uitgebreid geadviseerd, onder meer door de organisator van de loterij. De Canadese Lotto vond het namelijk maar wat mooi dat zo’n jong iemand er met de hoofdprijs vandoor ging.
Toekomstplannen
Lagarde studeert momenteel nog, maar verdient dankzij deze prijs al wel een vorstelijk salaris. Ze kan dan ook de nodige leuke dingen doen en hoeft zich vooralsnog geen zorgen te maken om het geld. De winnares van de hoofdprijs is onder andere van plan om een aantal mooie reizen te maken. En dat is natuurlijk heel goed mogelijk met het geld.
Daarnaast wil ze een groot deel van haar winst gebruiken om haar opleiding fotografie te bekostigen. Op deze manier komt haar droom, werken bij National Geographic, toch een behoorlijke stap dichterbij. Lagarde gebruikt haar geld dus niet alleen voor leuke dingen, maar ook voor het verwezenlijken van haar toekomstplannen.
